Music

God has truly blessed our church with a wide variety of Musical gifts and the ability to appreciate and worship God with a wide variety of styles of music. Some of the many groups / ways to get involved are listed below.

 

Adult Choir

Our volunteer Adult Choir ministry gives opportunity to those ages 16 and older to lift their voices in praise on a regular basis in our services.  The choir sings an average of 3 Sundays a month in both AM services throughout the choir season from September through May.  Repertoire includes a wide variety of styles from hymns to gospel to current praise music.   Rehearsals take place on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30. They are accompanied by piano or praise band, orchestra or  trax, or even Acapella with no accompaniment at all.  In addition to regularly scheduled Sunday services, they present special concerts including Christmas and Easter musicals and also take part in our annual end-of-season Cedar Crest Choirs in Concert event on the first Sunday of June.  Membership in the Adult Choir is open to all who have a love for the Lord and a song in their heart.  A short interview is also required.

Worship Orchestra

Our Orchestra is comprised of volunteer instrumentalists wanting to serve by playing once a month in our services.  The orchestra may be called on to accompany the congregation in a time of worship in song, or play prelude, or offertory, or accompany the choir anthem of the day.  They rehearse Saturday morning - the day before the service in which they’re scheduled to play.  Membership is open to those who have been playing for at least 2 years.

Worship Teams

Since our worship philosophy calls for a blend of styles, you’ll find a worship team leading our folks one or two Sundays per month, while on other Sundays the orchestra or keyboardists will share in accompaniment.  Our worship teams are comprised of qualified players and vocalists who have a heart for leading worship.  Currently our teams are made up of singers, along with those who are proficient in playing acoustic or electric guitar, bass, drums and percussion, and keyboard.  Membership is by interview and audition.

Praise Gang (Children's Choir)

Praise Gang is the church's worship choir for children, made up of singers ages 5 to 12, grades Kindergarten through five.  The group seeks to exalt our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through song.  The choir aims to cultivate the children's hearts for worship and singing, while ministering in the congregation monthly in the morning worship services. 

Praise Gang rehearses Sundays during the school year from 11:45am to 12:15pm in Overflow A.  The choir sings once a month in both morning worship services and in the church choral concert each June.

Salt & Light (Teen Choir)

Teen Choir is open to those teenagers of Jr. High and Sr. High age.  They practice Sundays in the Chapel at 5pm - before youth group meets.   Membership is open to all teens who love the Lord and want to sing for His glory.

Men's Ensemble

The sound of men singing together can be powerful.  Our Men’s Ensemble sings with power and conviction.  Rehearsals provide for great fellowship - and there’s always room for one more guy.   Men - young and old - are invited to join this special group of singers.  Practice is scheduled on select Sunday evenings at 5:00.

Musical Outreach Teams

Currently, we have two special groups who minister in the community.

 

Isaiah’s Promise is comprised of a vocalist backed by live band.  Songs include contemporary popular Christian music and original selections.  The group plays by special invitation and can be booked by calling or e-mailing the church for more information.

Instruments of Praise Singers is an eight member vocal ensemble and performs not only on a regular basis in AM services, but also at local churches, camps, banquets, etc. in the Lehigh Valley area.  Their repertoire varies from hymn arrangements to current contemporary Christian songs.  IOP is available for concerts except for Sunday mornings.  They can be contacted by calling or e-mailing the church.
